Artist Team Blog Hop

Welcome to the Club Scrap Artist Team blog hop! If you've arrived here from the super talented Donna you're in the right spot. If you would like to start from the beginning to see what Karen has created, start at Club Scrap. I had this mastermind idea of ATCs and an ATC holder planned, implemented and written up before I discovered that the two blog were actually in reverse. So Wednesday's blog had the holder. Oops.
Karen has challenged us with creating Artist Trading Cards (ATC's). ATC's are the "in" thing right now. They're 2.5" x 3.5" pieces of artwork that are traded among artists. Pocket letters came about by creating 9 ATC's fitting into a Pocket Trading Card Protector and mailing them to a friend. I haven't tried that myself. I just don't want to get addicted to something else ;-)

Last year at Club Scrap retreat we learned how to make our own paper. So I thought...what the heck let's break out that kit I haven't eve…

Memo: Coffee

Happy Monday.
Office Space and Mocha Java collections blend well together.  I love how the coffee stain looks with the MEMO stamp. Pair that with the coffee cup and spoon...this screams Monday mornings!

This card was inspired by July's Card Sketch Challenge

Office Space ATC Holder

Welcome to the Club Scrap Office Space Blog Hop!  If you've arrived from the talented Tina'sblog, you are in the right spot. If you'd like to start from the beginning, please head over to Club Scrapto see what wonderful project Karen has created for you.
With all the Artist Trading Cards (ATC) swaps I've belonged to I needed a way to organize some of them. So I created one from scratch using bookboard scraps. By using bookboard the holder would be a little more sturdy so I could keep it in my purse.
I started out with a simple box type design with a fold over lid. I used paper pieces as a trial before cutting down the bookboard. Using the Club Scrap wrapping technique used in making most books and boxes I covered the bookboard.
Disregard the messy desk...that's how I scrap. Once I've abused a kit I'll clean it up. Next step is to create the pockets for the ATC cards to go into. I cut roughly 20 pieces at 4.25"x 9" and scored at 3" and 6". Fo…

Wine Labels

Yes...I am a Wineaux. That should be no surprise to many. I enjoy a good bottle of wine. Luckily I have a few friends that share in my love of wine. I like to save the labels of bottles that were consumed for a special occasion or just because I love the label. I have been known to buy horrible wine JUST for the label. So what do I do with the labels?  They make great thank you cards if your friend shared an amazing bottle with you!
Many, many years ago we created this Raven's Claw journal at Retreat. I do remember it being quite difficulty to make. However, my original journal is now full. So my friends were stunned when I asked if anyone had one they wanted to get rid of. Yeah...they were also mortified to find out they did have one or two in their project pins! Thanks Cathy! Putting together this album nearly 10 years later wasn't as difficult as I remembered. Maybe I've progressed ;-)
Here's the original version completed at retreat.  It is now full of wine labels.

Tenerife, Spain

Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and was our first stop after 7 days at sea. It was nice to put our feet on solid ground and Tenerife is absolutely beautiful! They have amazing architecture and parks. The paella was pretty delicious too!
This layout was created using the Office Space layout sketch available to kit members. The paper was so perfect for my photos that I didn't embellish much.  I even dug out those sticker alphabet sheets!

Christmas in July

The first thing I do when a kit arrives on my doorstep is to take out the paper and look at the designs. It would probably frighten some of you to know that I fondle feel the texture and sometimes even smell the paper. Some designs of the Office Space collection immediately reminded me of Christmas. A retro, groovy Christmas. I immediately took out these specific papers and made panels with them.  I used a previous sketch from May to create this first card. There was quite a bit of white space that was perfect for Christmas washi tape.

This next card was created from an older Mojo Monday sketch.
I was able to create 10 cards with these panels. I'm now ahead of the game!  Last year I was chastised for sending out store bought cards.  Not this year. I promise!

A Great Disney Adventure

I'm having fun with templates while creating digital layouts for the Tool Challenge over at Club Scrap. The challenge is to use templates. The idea is to use tools in your stash, either digital or paper.  This template is from Scrapbook Challenges. I was super excited to use the little fairies from the Enchanted Forest digital kit. Tinkerbell is my favorite Disney character!
Club Scrap digital papers, fairies and buttons. Anna Aspnes brads. Lisete Scraps title.

Malaga was one of my favorite destinations in Spain. I loved exploring the old castles, theaters and bullrings! Speaking of exploring...we found all these amazing sites while actually looking for the Picaso Museum. We finally found it in a spot that couldn't have been more obvious!  Malaga also had some pretty amazing sangria! When the clouds gave way to some fabulous sunshine, that sangria tasted heavenly.
This layout was created by using this month's Office Space ALSB directions.  Some minor changes and memorabilia from Malaga were added.
Club Scrap papers, metals, ribbon and stamp. Cricut letters. Queen&Co. pearls.

Every Leaf Speaks Bliss to Me

I love fall!  I love the turning of the leaves, the crisp morning air and the fact that winter is coming. Something I'm dreaming about when the temperatures are near 110 degrees. So it was only natural that I chose this stencil to give the July technique challenge a try.  This stencil (Sonoma) didn't actually come like this.  It had an intricate center that I removed. I lightly inked the inside of the stencil and then stamped over the stencil using the Autumn Gardens pumpkin stamp.
Club Scrap papers and stamps. Tim Holtz embossing folder. Gelatos splatter.
You should give this technique a try and link up your projects to the Club Scrap blog post for a chance to win a Club Scrap gift certificate!

The Great Outdoors

I just can't throw away large scraps.  These large pieces were left over from projects, layouts and cards created throughout the month with the Office Space collection. I followed the same technique as described earlier with the same steps as shown in the Boardwalk Starburst cards.  I took all the pieces, made them rectangular and then cut them in half from one top corner to the other bottom corner.
I came across this stunning photo I had from a trip to Upstate New York a few years back. I just love the way the papers compliment all the gorgeous leaves. Club Scrap papers, cord, tags, leaves and metals. Queen&Co. jewels. Cricut title.

Be Back in 5

Happy Friday!
I broke out my stencils the other day.  Two reasons...the Club Scrap technique challenge for July is to use your stamps with stencils. The other reason...I really need to work on my stencil skills. I'm TERRIBLE at using ink with stencils.  Sounds weird, but I really like using spackle  or color burstswith my stencils to create backgrounds. If the stencil requires layered inking...forget about it.
One of the challenge blogs is having a Time Challenge this week. I originally was going to submit this one but I couldn't keep the card to one layer.  I HAD to add the red polka dot bow tie! It does meet the requirements for PSL this week, though!
Club Scrap papers, stencils and stamp. American Crafts ribbon. Bo Bunny bling.
Have a fabulous weekend my friends!

This Makes Me Happy

This makes me happy! If you've been following me, you know I love Disneyland. So when my dear partner in crime friend came to California on business, we escaped work and met for Disney and baseball. I knew she loved Disney...but I didn't realize as to the depth of her love.  She was like a little kid, especially when meeting Donald Duck. She couldn't even speak she was so excited! We had a blast running around like children.
Club Scrap digital papers, embellishments. Simply Tiffany Studios template. Gennifer Bursett mists.

A special side note on how Cindy and I met...through Club Scrap! We met at a Retreat in Wisconsin.  She lived in Chicago and I in California. She was struggling with the Raven's Claw journal and I was making fun of her. Then at dinner that night we talked about "pulling the plug" (end of life rights) and immediately became great friends! I'd pull the plug for you Cindy!  If you ever get the opportunity to attend a Retreat DO IT! I've …

Just a Quick Hello

The minute I saw this week's sketch from Retro Sketches I thought about a small wreath with the binder clip stamp from Office Space. I stamped several clips and fussy cut them. Punched a circle and then punched the center with smaller circle to give me a ring base for the wreath. I added a Color Burst panel created at Retreat. The small file folder was inked to make it stand out and a small paper clip added for fun.  Club Scrap papers, stamps, tags and ribbon. Dazzles stickers. Ken Oliver Color Bursts.

Good Luck!

I just love Color Bursts! When I create with these I usually create lots of panels to be used later on down the road.  So I went through my stash to find some red and blue creations for this weeks PSL challenge.  I really didn't want to cut this panel or place too much over it. I love the way it is, so the sketch by Can You Case It? is a perfect match! Club Scrap papers, ribbon and stamp. Ken Oliver's Color Bursts. Recycled rosette.

Office Space

Office Space is in the house! I just love the colors of this kit! Makes me think of the fall and maybe a little groovy Christmas.  Those little post-it notes...adorable! favorite stamps has got to be this one:
I didn't waste any time digging into this kit.  In fact...after my creative weekend I only have about 4 sheets of paper left. I can't wait to share with you through this month what I've been creating! Last Friday was the start of summer PSL (Pro Scrapbookers League). Super excited whenever PSL starts. It lets me catch up on layouts and restock my card stash.  I started off with the Greetings to Go and this week's PSL challenge is red, white and/or blue. Stars and/or stripes. I'm trying to use up some Color Burst panels I created last month. Club Scrap wooden tag, stencil, paper clip, file folder. Writing Marker mini motes. American Crafts twine. Color Bursts. I used thesketch from Sunday Stamps latest challenge for my inspiration.

Double QDDL

Happy Friday! I'm looking forward to the weekend. I'm hoping to get some paper crafting time in.
I love experimenting with the digital QDDL's. When I first download the files, I open all six of them in Photoshop Elements and then decide if I can combine at least two of them to make a two page digital layout. Sometimes I rotate the layout for a better fit.  Many times, I use the same layout side by side. If there is text on the QDDL, I use a brush to cover it or embellish over it. I did both of those to the top center of this layout.

Have a fabulous weekend!
